The monastery managed to survive the Ottoman rule as a convent and a monastery, but was abandoned in 1758. Being one of the oldest on the island, the monastery was restored in 1950, and in 1978 became an Ecumenical Conference Centre, serving churches in Cyprus and the Middle East.
