Kantara Castle is located in Northern Cyprus. It was constructed in the Byzantine period. It combines Byzantine and Frankish architectural elements, became derelict in 1525 and was dismantled in 1560. Apart from the necessary restorations that have been carried out in order to render the stonework safe, it is very much as it was several hundred years ago.
