Statue of Winston Churchill, Parliament Square, Westminster

The statue of Winston Churchill in Parliament Square is a bronze sculpture of the former British Prime Minister Winston Churchill (from 1940 to 1945 and from 1951 to 1955). Churchill indicated his desire for a statue of himself in this spot when Parliament Square was redeveloped in the 1950s. The statue is 3.7 m (12 feet) high and it shows Winston Churchill standing with his hand resting on his walking stick and wearing a military greatcoat. The statue was unveiled by his widow Baroness Clementine Spencer-Churchill in 1973.
