Acting as the belfry, watch tower and upper gate of the town, this 25m high structure is Riquewihr's emblematic monument. Erected in 1291 at the same time as the first fortification, the tower retains its medieval appearance with its austere outer façade designed to repel any attackers and an internal façade decoraded with projecting timber framed structures.
