Gerasa (Jerash) - the Nymphaeum

This building served the purpose of public fountain and Temple of the Nymphs Water out of holes in the lower niches into a tank in front, from which it poured through the mouths of carved lions' heads into a drain below. The upper story was plastered and painted and the lower covered with marble slabs. It was built about A.D. 190.
