The Monterey Mural is a festive, 36-foot ceramic tile mural by the contemporary artist Guillermo “Bill” Granizo. The mural was installed in 1984 and depicts events from California history. The mural is packed with images of the history of the Monterey Bay area, from Native Americans to Spaniards to Farmers to Suburbanites. The images appear historically from left to right, with a huge ship dominating the left center.
