Alexander Mosaic from the House of the Faun, Pompeii

This mosaic (5.82x3.13m) was found in the House of the Faun where it adorned an exedra with a colonnade overlooking the central peristyle of the house. It derives from an ancient painting by a master of the first Hellenistic period, possibly Philoxenes of Eretria. The scene records the battle between Alexander the Great (on the left) and Darius III (on the right), fleeting in his chariot.
Now it is in the Naples National Archaeological Museum
