Serengeti National Park, Tanzania

The Serengeti National Park lies in northwestern Tanzania, bordered to the north by the Kenyan border, where it is continuous with the Maasai Mara National Reserve. The park covers 14,750 sq-km of grassland plains, savanna, riverine forest, and woodlands. It is famous for its annual migration of wildebeest and zebra. In addition, the park is well known for its healthy stock of other resident wildlife, particularly the Big Five (Masai lion, African leopard, African bush elephant, Eastern black rhinoceros, African buffalo). This park also supports many other species, including Thomson's and Grant's gazelle, topi, waterbuck, spotted hyena, baboon, impala, and Masai giraffe. It also boasts about 500 bird species, including ostriches, secretary bird, kori bustards, marabou storks, martial eagles, and many species of vultures.
