The sacrifice of Iphigenia from House of the Tragic Poet, Pompeii

On the left Agamemnon, his head is covered to hide his grief, who has agreed to sacrifice his young daughter Iphigenia to Artemis, the goddess whose image stands on the cylindrical plinth next to the king. On the right Ulysses and Diomedes carry off the girl while the soothsayer Calchas, who ordained that the sacrifice had to be made, holds his hand in a gesture of consternation.
Now it is in the Naples National Archaeological Museum
